ECW thoughts

ECW was basically a carbon copy of last week's show, but allow me to opine.

I never cared about Roadkill, so I had no problem with him putting over Sabu. Sabu has been great since this whole thing started, so I'm really hoping that he's making the most of it. I also hope that his return doesn't get cut short by no-shows or mystery illnesses again.

That Sandman stuff just isn't working. It should work, but it's missing three things. 1) Metallica. 2) Cigarettes. 3) A small crowd to come out of. I just can't buy the guy pushing his way through Smackdown signs to come to the ring and destroy a stupid character.

Kelly stripper is hot, but I could care less about this gimmick. When it started a few weeks ago and she couldn't dance, I was really hoping that Kimona would show up and beat some sense into and show her how you're really supposed dance for an ECW crowd.

I didn't like Kurt Angle's crying promo at all.

RVD vs. Angle was a good match, but Angle's new "rassler" gimmick means nothing but rest holds to me. I'm happy that RVD is getting such a push but at the same time, I'm not happy to see Angle doing clean jobs so frequently.

Edge is such an incredible heel he'd fit in to ECW full time, but I'm okay with him on Raw also.

Hogan vs. Muta 1993

Here's a review from a WWF/NJPW show in 1993. There's a Champ vs. Champ nontitle match with Hogan vs. Muta.

Hogan does an enzigieri in this match. No kidding. You can see other clips of this show on the review also.

If anyone reading this has never seen Hogan wrestle in Japan, then you are really missing out on seeing the "real" Hogan. Enzigieris, drop toeholds, real submission holds, real takedowns, a real finisher... its unreal the difference between his wrestling style in the States and his wrestling style in Japan. This is a great example of Hogan knowing what he has to do to stay popular. In America, nothing was required of him in-ring wise, so that is what he gave. But people see that and make the mistake of assuming he didn't know how to wrestle. Hogan is no Ultimate Warrior. Hogan knows how to wrestle, unfortunately he only showed that skill in Japan since in Japan they expect more then just theatrics. I also loved Hogan's post-match interview where he basically says that all he does in the WWF is "bullshit" and that the IWGP Heavyweight Championship is the real belt.

John Tenta passed away

Readers of WrestleCrap.com and lifelong wrestling fans are very familiar with John Tenta, most famously known as The Earthquake. He lost his battle with cancer this morning.

Smash some snakes in the next life for me, man. :)

Shoot, Brutha, Shoot!

Man, Hogan holds nothing back in this interview...

"Bret Hart had a case of the ass at the Hall Of Fame," Hogan revealed. "He was mad at me and Ric Flair and a bunch of other people because we told the truth on the (never released) Screwed DVD about him.

"Bret says the business is a work but he really thinks it's a shoot. He really believes he's the greatest wrestler ever. Of course he's not, Kurt Angle or a lot of guys could beat him if it was a real wrestling match.

"My view on the 1997 Survivor Series - that match where Bret screwed Bret in Montreal - is that Vince needed to get the belt off him, because he wasn't drawing any money, and Bret acted totally unprofessionally.

"So I gave that opinion on the DVD. I said when Vince McMahon asked him to lose the belt, then he should have lost it.

"Because wrestling is not real, it's entertainment."

Read the whole thing. Some of his versions of truth are always interesting. I agree with him about Bret Hart, though.

WWE: It doesn't get much stupider than this.

If you click on the 'Superstars' at WWE.com and look the Smackdown roster, you'll notice that Jack Black lucha character is there.

Well, maybe they can move him to Raw and have him wrestle Kane. Or even better, maybe he'll be the fake Kane (even though I'd really like to see it be Kevin Nash.)

Here's more YouTube stuff. It's that Kid Rock History of WWF video. Damn. I forgot how awesome that was. Watch it and take note of how many of the guys on it are either dead or worse (Jake the Snake) now.

Today in pro-wrestling

A piece of WMK died eight years ago today.

1998 - Sylvester Ritter, better known to wrestling fans as the Junkyard Dog, was killed in a car crash at the age of 45. Ritter apparently fell asleep at the wheel while driving from North Carolina to Mississippi, and rolled his car off the road.

Another teacher gets no jail time for sexual abuse

Here's an update on the teacher abuse scandal in our country. The list keeps growing and growing.

What I don't understand is why when a woman teacher sleeps with a student she gets no jail time, but if a man does the same thing he can get up to fifteen years.
